About Us
Putting People First in Planning
Community Development Advocacy SA Inc. (CDA SA) is a peak body working to ensure that local voices are heard early — before development proposals are locked in. We advocate for transparent, fair processes and meaningful, front‑loaded consultation that enables collaboration between communities, planners and proponents.

The Founder
Craig Pickering
Craig Pickering established CDA SA to bring a practical, outcomes‑focused approach to advocacy for community‑led planning. Craig’s work centres on building coalitions, sharing tools that lift local capability, and engaging decision‑makers on reforms that prioritise early community input.

Aims & Goals
What We’re Working Toward
- Early consultation as standard practice — embed community engagement before designs and rezonings are drafted.
- Clearer, trusted processes — transparent communication, accessible information, and respectful dialogue between all parties.
- Practical tools for local groups — templates, workshops and guidance that lift capability and lower barriers to participating.
- Evidence‑based advocacy — submissions and reforms that improve outcomes for both communities and proponents.
